During all phases of event management, Unique Police facilitates the officer duties through decision support functions such as the verification of duplicate events, the search for pre-existing information, the suggestion of available data for people, vehicles, places, and POIs. APPLICATION SCENARIO
To show how much Unique Police covers the entirety of a Police operation, let’s examine how the platform functions are involved in the real case of the abduction of a woman on a vehicle.
Abduction of a woman on a vehicle
Call-taking
The call is received by the emergency number control room, Unique Police gets the caller’s number from the mobile provider. Call details are fetched, including caller’s data.
Geolocation
The exact location of the mobile phone is retrieved using all available services. Included EML geolocation service is activated, and SMS-based mobile connection is established.
Automatic backing information
The operator is supported by Unique Police tools for decision support and is informed that there are previous calls from the same number, reporting cases of domestic violence in the neighbourhood.
Unique Police engine also reports that there are previous cases in the proximity, involving a woman asking for help with domestic violence. Caller’s data of previous cases are available to Unique Police operator, as well as the records of the vehicle owned by the caller’s husband.
Case assessment
The caller just witnessed a female being shoved in the back of a vehicle by a man. The operator fills in the case records and Unique Police starts processing the case severity. Standard operating procedures are triggered based on available case records.
SOP: previous cases
Because previous cases are found for the location and the calling number, Unique Police runs a standard operating procedure (SOP) and request the operator to check the existing case records.
The description of the husband of the abused woman is available in Unique Police structured records for the previous calls, thus the operator asks the caller to describe the man who shoved the female in the back of the vehicle. The descriptions match, so the female could be the woman that previously asked help with domestic violence and the man could be her husband.
Live video from the scene / PNC check
Since the caller states that the car is still there and screams come from the vehicle, the operator starts Unique Police EML function and asks the caller to start recording a live video of the scene with his smartphone. The operator sees the ongoing violence first-hand and confirms the identity of the man and of the woman performing a PNC check on the integrated plate number database.
Warning flags
As the woman identity is confirmed, Unique Police detects that the victim is a vulnerable person. An incident warning is automatically set, showing the “VULNERABLE VICTIM” notice to the operator.
Case sharing and cooperation
The case is shared with the local Police district through Unique Police sharing features. All involved forces cooperate in case management and unit assignment.
SOP: unit assignment
Since case type/severity and location are known, Unique Police automatic engine triggers a SOP to suggest suitable units and patrols to be assigned for police intervention. The local Police operator can accept the suggested units or manually assign different patrols, using proximity and status information provided by the software. POIs are shown on map to highlight areas suitable for any roadblocks.
Mobile operations and case management
The case is automatically shared with assigned units and front-line officers access all available data on their mobile devices, using Unique Police mobile tools. Case management is performed through all operation steps both by Control Room’s operators and frontline officers.
Post-event operations
As the man is captured and the woman is rescued, incident management is closed but case records are kept available for post-event duties and forensics. All available data from evidence analysis and all reports are stored securely, together with available videos and call recordings. A complete case bundle is kept in Unique Police archive for legislation and governance requirements. Operation log is available to ensure case evidence and legally protect officers’ job.
